Survey Controls

Survey controls allow the survey scriptor to do many of the things a sophisticated survey needs to do.

  • Control the flow by using simple or complex skip instructions,
  • Set quotas or minimum required sample sizes,
  • Create 'Pipes' for use as answer frames in future questions,
  • Recode questions for use in ;'Quota' or other controls,
  • Compute new variables,
  • Group sets os questions to allow for question randomization or looping test stimuli through repeated sets of questions,
  • Set a password for survey security,
  • Create 'Timestamps' or 'Reports'
  • Redirect respondents to other URL's.

Survey controls are inserted into your survey usually in the order that they are to be executed, but not always.  Using the set of survey controls that SMP provides allows you to achieve almost any desired outcome with your surveying.

The survey controls are input or selected exactly the same way as questions are inserted; by selecting them from the question type pop-up shown below.

Each of the controls are described in the following chapters.
